Customized depolarization spatial patterns with dynamic retardance functions

Abstract In this work we demonstrate customized depolarization spatial patterns by imaging a dynamical time-dependent pixelated retarder. A proof-of-concept of the proposed method is presented, where liquid–crystal light modulator used as retarder that emulates controlled spatially variant depolarizing sample addressing phase pattern. We apply an Mueller polarimetric system based on polarization camera to verify effective effect. Experimental validation provided temporal integration detection system. The depolarizance results are fully described within simple graphical approach which agrees with standard matrix decomposition methods. potential discussed means three practical cases, include non-reported patterns, including exotic structures spirally shaped
